Won't open, won't fresh install

eM Client suddenly would not open anymore - just a split second sand timer icon, then nothing. Uninstalled and reinstalled – it can’t be doing a fresh install though because it never asks where to put it or goes through the account set up process. When I click on the application in the “new” install, again, nothing happens. Just a split second of a sand timer icon. Windows is up to date. Very frustrating.

I had a similar issue with an early internal build of 8.1.

Here’s what I did:

Right-click on the eM Client icon in your Windows Start Menu and and choose Run as Administrator.

Once eM Client is open, close it and then start it again as you usually would.
