Hi. I’ve been experiencing an intermittent problem for some time that has become persistent. I leave the emClient running and, after waking my Laptop from sleep, emClient no longer seems to sync to my outlook.com account. If I try a manual refresh the sync cycle appears to complete but no new mail or changes are found. If I then fully quit emClient and restart it then mailbox sync completes and new mail and changes are found. It is as if emClient remains in a suspended state when the Laptop is woken from sleep. Is this a known problem? Are there any settings that can be made to fix the problem? Thanks.
Automatically going to sleep on laptops (similarly to closing the lid) can sometimes cause synching problems on alot of mail clients after resuming.
So suggest to instead either manually shutdown in Poweroff / Sleep rather than automatically letting the laptop go to sleep and see if that fixes it when you resume the laptop.
If you have already tried that, then alternatively suggest to disable automatically going to sleep and setup one of the built in screensavers to start at a set time instead.
Apart from that some Windows laptops have different modes you can try such as Hibernate and Hybrid sleep that might fix that issue. You can Google how to set those options.
Thank you for your response and suggested resolution. Yes, more recently, I have been doing this. I have other Apps and Programs that sync to external resources. These do not experience the same problem; when the laptop resumes from Sleep they continue to work as before without restarting. Do you think this anomaly of emClient will be resoloved in a future update?
This usually happens because emClient loses its connection after the laptop wakes from sleep, so try disabling “Allow computer to turn off this device” in your network adapter power settings and also enable “Refresh on startup/resume” in emClient settings. Make sure you’re using the latest version of emClient and re-add your Outlook account using Exchange/Office 365 instead of IMAP if possible. If it still continues, keep emClient closed during sleep or restart it after waking as a temporary workaround
