What is the correct way to close down em Client when shutting down my laptop?

Er - File->Exit.  If you don’t close down via this route and you’re shutting Windows down, the database will get corrupted and you’ll go through the recovery process (and risk killing the profile altogether).

If you’re just closing the lid and suspending, just leave it running and it’ll carry on from where you left off when you resume (once the WiFi connection is re-established.)

I’ve been closing via clicking on the ‘X’ without invoking the recovery process, using a PC/win10.

I close eM Client both with the X, and just shutting down Windows. In both cases eM Client is shut down correctly and there are no issues with corrupted database.

This issue was fixed some time back. What version of eM Client are you using Richard?
