Wait time for Adobe attachments to open - too long - program freezes

Do you have a fix yet for the adobe attachments not opening in Windows 7 without freezing the program. It has been a year now. I moved back to an earlier Adobe 9.2 last year to fix the situation and open attachments. I just updated it to Adobe 12. and now it doesn’t work again. This is a problem now because other websites for banking etc. and paperless bill paying are using the newer versions of Adobe and the 9.2 doesn’t work on them, and I am told I need to update. HELP, I can’t run both versions of Adobe.

And just to clarify we are talking about preview of pdf files using Adobe Acrobat right?
