Version 9 upgrade problem

Win 10 - upgraded to version 9 (just bought license) from version 7.2.50008.0
after installation I keep getting a popup that states
This version eM Client is newer than what your current license permits
To continue using eM Client you will have to renew your license or downgrade to a version lower than 7.9.0.0
Do I have to purchase 2 licenses to upgrade to version 9?
Help!

Did you get a new license when you purchased V9 eM Client ?

If you did, go to “Menu / Help / License / Deactivate” and then “Menu / Help / License / Activate” and paste in the new license.
