Noticed that my backups have stopped working after upgrade. Recommend checking your backups to make sure they didn’t stop as well.( I didn’t get any notifications just noticed it today when looking at the settings that my last backup was before I upgraded.)
If I try and set up any new backup I get:
This is not good. Anyone figure out the work around???
I had the same problem after upgrade; it was resolved by deleting the old backup folder (if it exists after upgrade).
Create a new folder named #BACKUP# or whatever name you want and where you want, then go to:
Menu -> Settings -> General -> Backup -> Target Directory and browse to directory/folder you have created.
This worked for me.
I can’t tell you where your Backup folder is on your computer as I didn’t like the eM Client install routine and directory/folder placements on C://
I modified the install routine and my installation is non-standard - I never install anything on C:// and my SSD is partitioned to keep things separate.
If you have any issues I’ll be happy to help if I can.
Sorry that didn’t work for you, however, on reflection I seem to remember that I changed the location of the Backup folder.
As I modified the msi installation routine for eM because it wants to install to C:// as a default - I never install anything to C:// and keep that solely for the OS.
My eM installation is on E://
I don’t even have anything in C: Users -> Your user name -> AppData -> Local -> eM Client - my Avatar Cache is also on E://.
Consequently I don’t know what was the default location for the Backup folder; I created the new folder at:
E; Program Files/eM Client/#_Data/#Attach# #Backup# #Calendar# #Themes# eM Client (database folder)/ a whole bunch of files + sundry folders including Archive, Local Folders, Logs, Search Folders
I guess the bottom line is that you could try not only another new name for the Backup folder but also a location; the reasoning for this is that the access error code indicates an extinct or bad Registry entry.
You cold also try a Registry cleaner for instance Ccleaner, there is a free version if you can use manually. It’s available at: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner
It is considered to be N°1 on the market.
I hear what you say, however, we have been using Ccleaner for years, have it on all our computers running automatically in the background and have never had a problem.
You could make a backup copy of your Registry prior to use if you wanted to try it.
We also run a daily incremental system backup that we have never needed to use.
As you are prepared to edit the registry, hopefully backing up before you start, I don’t
understand why you won’t use a registry cleaner because of anecdotal reports.
To make a manual backup:
With eMC in view at top left ->Menu ->Backup ->Second item…
In next window you will be asked ->Do you really…
Click ‘Yes’ and wait until complete.
In the original window again top left between +New & Refresh there are two small
semi-circular arrows - these spin at start of backup and stop when complete.
