I used to periodically export contacts just to be sure I would have backups if they were needed. It has been quite a while since I have done that (2 years!) and I decided it would be a good idea to resume the practice. In a set of contacts I exported in 2020 (with a separate file for each contact) the name of each VCF file is simply the contact name. When I exported my current contacts today, each VCF file name has a date first (e.g. 2021-07-23), then three 2-digit numbers separated by dashes (e.g. 17-54-36) and finally the contact name. What is the significance of these two items that have been added? Can I export with only contact names being used in the file names?
The date and time in the file name is the last revision date of the contact.
You can’t change the format of the file name for the export, but you can just drag your contacts from eM Client and drop them in Explorer. That will name them with just the name.
Gary, thank you! What a great and easy way to back up contacts with just a drag!
