Is em Client 9 automatically offered as an update if you are still using 8.2, or do you have to update manually?
So far I have not received an automatic update?

Not necessarily.
If the user has a Pro License with Lifetime upgrades, no further purchase is necessary.
If the user has a standard version 8 Pro license, they can purchase a version upgrade.
If the user has a Free license, there is nothing that needs to be done with the license.
