Update 8.2.1237 causes connection failure

I’ve installed the latest em client download 8.2.1237, but now I can’t receive e-mails. It gives me a red triangle next to the account name and reports a connection failed error. Sending e-mails seem to work. No other settings have been changed. I use POP/SMTP settings.

First thing to check is the error message.

Go to Menu > Operations, and look for any POP3 errors in the Log tab.

That might give some clue as to why it is not connecting.

You can also check your POP3 settings. Go to Menu > Accounts and click on the POP3 tab for that account. You should have one of the following port/security policy settings:
Port 995 = Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)
Port 110 = Use SSL/TLS if available

Another option is to completely disable your anti-virus/firewall or VPN applications and see if there is any difference.

It took me a while to sort this out, as this issue was for my Husband’s computer. Mine was working fine with the same update. We did try all your suggestions, but it didn’t fix the issue.
So I suggested we back-up the files and uninstall the program. I then reinstalled the program from the latest download from the eM Client website. We restored the back-up and it seems to be working as it should.
