Unable to get blacklist to work

I have messages that are put in my inbox even though I have used “move to junk and blacklist”. I also tried making rules to accomplish the same thing, but I still get messages I don’t want in my inbox

Any help would be appreciated…

I have the same problem. No matter how precisely I copy emails or domains to be blacklisted I continue to receive these emails. I even Run the blacklist rule on a folder containing said emails and it catches them all so I know I have the emails properly listed. But even when placing the Blacklist rule first in order of all my rules it fails to act upon reception of the emails so blacklisted.

The only work around seems to be to create a Rule that does essentially what the Blacklist rule is intended to do.

Why does this happen?

Hello, are you using eM Client version 6 or 7? Also, can you send me screenshots of the rules?

Regards,
Dave

Mr. Adler,

Here is an export of my rule for processing blacklisted domains:

Why is it I cannot get this rule to execute?

@David Adler

Bumping the above post.

Hello IsoQuantic,
is nothing from this rule being executed or just some addresses/domains?
What version of eM Client are you currently running?
Do you have any other rules set up?

Regards,
Olivia

I decided to use Mailwasher Pro as a front end to my email needs as it is more capable in dealing with spam. The spam rule shown above is the first rule listed in my set of rules using the v7 beta 2 version of eMC.

I have to say that since switching to emClient, I am finding WAY more spam problems. It’s letting so much crap in - probably 40+ messages a day. I blacklist all the domains, but there are always more. Some of the messages are horribly explicit, too…stuff that is obviously not legit. Loads of phishing things with fake invoices and attachments, too. I never needed to filter this out with Outlook or Gmail. Will this be corrected?

Unless eMC folks intend to include internal logic that scans and analyzes messages using something like Bayesian analysis, spam will always be a problem. This is why I now use Mailwasher Pro to prescreen email before it is actually delivered to my eMC client.

http://www.firetrust.com/products/mailwasher-pro

The MWPro tool puts up a list of all emails being sent to all my accounts with ratings that I can then modify or accept. I can add all manner of wildcards for hard to catch spam domain, e.g., *@download, which is impossible to add in a eMC rule as the rule logic expects at least something like download.com, download.net, etc., which the spammer is not using.

Try adding @download to your spam rules and you will see the error eMC gives claiming it is not a valid domain. Spammers have ways of forging headers to overcome these sort of limitations that MailWasher Pro can stop before it gets to my mailbox.
