I’m trying to import messages from windows mail, not windows live mail, but winmail and EM continues to tell me that it is not installed on my computer

It is possible that WinMail is installed in a non-standard location. In that case, please try exporting emails from WinMail as .eml files and import them in eM Client through Menu>File>Import.
