Tag Organisation / Heirarchy

I’m a gmail for Business user, that uses emClient across multiple devices.
I use emClient as its the best client to integrate with gmail tags, a feature I use daily.

1. Organize Tags:

  • Problem: Currently, tags are displayed in a seemingly random order, or as decided by emClient on their priority, making it difficult to quickly find and apply the tags they use most frequently.
  • Solution: Implement a system that allows users to:
    • Prioritize Tags: Allow users to manually rank tags or have eM Client automatically prioritize them based on frequency of use.
    • Sort Tags: Provide options to sort tags alphabetically, by date created, by frequency of use, etc.

2. Tree Structure for Tags:

  • Problem: Currently, tags with a hierarchical relationship are displayed with a “/” separator, which is not visually intuitive and is compounded by issue 1 above.
  • Solution:
    • Tree View: Introduce a tree structure view for tags, where parent tags can be expanded to reveal child tags. This would make it easier to visualize and manage hierarchical relationships between tags.

Benefits:

  • Efficiency: Users can quickly find and apply the tags they need, reducing the time spent searching through a long list of tags.
  • Clarity: A tree structure provides a clear visual representation of the relationships between tags.
  • Flexibility: Users have more control over how their tags are organized and displayed.

Problem: Currently, tags are displayed in a seemingly random order, or as decided by emClient on their priority, making it difficult to quickly find and apply the tags they use most frequently

For Gmail accounts by default Gmail have Random tags on the account IMAP setup. Go to “Menu / Accounts” (PC), or “eM Client / Accounts” (Mac) and then highlight your Gmail account on the left. Then click the “IMAP” tab at the top.

Then part way down you will see Tags section. Remove the check “Show random colours for tags downloaded from server”. Also you will see options below that to show Important tags allways or Never depending on what you want

You can also go to “Menu / Tags” (PC) or “Tools / Tags” (Mac) to edit all your Gmail account Local or Server tag colors and Tag names etc.

Thanks!
This goes a little way toward solving it, at least I can manually move a couple of the frequent tags to the top for current projects.

Having a nested tree view is still on my wish list though!
