Tag filtering not working

I’m wondering if I could be missing something, but when I click, for example [tags/major pending] mail tagged in this way does not turn up. Instead I get a set of mails that are completely irrelevant to the command, and if I scroll through, a few mails that are tagged this way, but rather old, none recent.

I’m still checking to see if I’ve missed a previous setting I inadvertently may have placed, but if anyone can help me with this I’d be most grateful.

Thanks in advance.

BTW: The only thing I can think of is that I recently installed a new (user-created) theme. Could that have broken tag filtering?

I personally have no problems Tag filtering or Tag / Label filtering via the search field in the latest V9 or V10 using the desktop or mobile apps.

Eg: For a Gmail account if i want to search for all the emails with the Red tag, i click in the search field at the top and type Tag: Red Tag and press enter. Or if i want to search for all emails with the Tag / Label 10 play TV i type in the search Tag: 10Play TV and then press enter.

Thank you for this! This seems to help, although tags don’t seem to work exactly as they once did. I’m not what you’d think of as a power user, so perhaps my observations aren’t the best. But it seems to me that I used to be able to click on the tag designation I wanted in the left column and every iteration of that tag application would appear. That is no longer the case, and the items designated with various tags no longer seem to display the color as they did before, nor any indication that they’ve been tagged as such. Nonetheless, using the search box appears to get the job done, and once again, thanks.

Testing the latest V10.4.4209 with Win 11 and Mac Tahoe, i can personally still also “manually click on any Tags or Tag / Labels” in the left column "and those Tagged / Label messages still all appear on the right in the message list.

So i carnt fault eM Client and can only presume something has either eg: changed in your Tag / Labels section when the database upgraded, or something has gone wrong with your actual mail database and might be corrupted in some way.

So suggest if you have been making regular eM Client backups either automatically via the Settings or manually via the Menu, then “try restoring a recent dated backup” when you know the Tags / Labels were searching ok via “Menu / File / Restore” and see if that fixes the problem.

If you don’t have any recent backups, or you do but restoring a backup doesn’t fix the problem, then you would have two options.

1). Either go to “Menu / Tags” and try manually removing and re-adding the Tags / Labels again one by one “under the Mail tab” and see if that fixes it.

Or

2). if you have a current active paid Pro, Personal or Business version, go to the Offical VIP Support page and login and lodge a support ticket.

I may try to restore from an older backup, but I’m concerned about folder configurations and so on that I have changed since the newest installation on a new device. I’m currently traveling, but when I return to the U.S. in January I have the appropriate files on an external drive there. OTOH, it’s not an issue that I want to spend too much time on, as I tend to search by keywords, sender, etc., most frequently, and your suggestion that I use the search bar and “Tag: *” will work for my purposes. Thank you once more!
