sometimes it does - most times not
Are these Local Mail Tags or Server Mail Tags ?
Also what version of eM Client are you using ?
Thanks for the response - Local tags, version 10.4.4195 (7d32f97)

Ok could be you may have a problem with the program installation, Or possibly the email account might be corrupted in some way, Or you might have a problem with the database, Or you might have some external factor causing it.
So first suggest “if you haven’t already tried” close eM Client and uninstall eM Client and if you have Windows “don’t delete the database” when asked on the uninstall wizard. Then reinstall the same or later version of eM Client either from the release history page for PC or Mac or Windows Store depending on where you originally installed it from.
If reinstalling eM Client makes no difference then if you have an IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account and nothing in Local Folders, then try going to “Menu / Accounts” and remove and readd your account and see if that fixes it.
If removing and readding your account still makes no difference, then I would next suggest to try a new database with new Local Tags.
To create a new database “close eM Client” and then go to the following eM Client hidden database folder and rename it to eg: eM Client-Current. Then reopen eM Client and setup as new with new Local Tags and see if that fixes it.
(Windows hidden eM Client database folder)
“Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\eM Client”
(Mac Hidden hidden eM Client database folder)
“Users\yourusername\Library\Application Support\eM Client”
Lastly if a new database still doesn’t fix it, then there must be some external eg: resident software or hardware issue causing the tag color delay.
Thanks for all the good info. I’ll check it out
