SYNCING Calendar and to‑do list in POP3 mode

I’m using eM Client in POP3 mode on both my work PC and home PC. I understand that in POP3 configuration, the calendar and to‑do list don’t sync.

I’m exploring alternatives for syncing. Does eM Client store these details in a separate file that I could sync between the two devices?

i can’t sync the main mail database file as its too large (>20gb to sync).

eM Client has a eM Sync feature in eM Client 11 Beta that synchronizes account configurations (email, calendar, contacts, chat, and others), general application settings , signatures , email templates , and QuickTexts .

“eM Sync service”

However for a POP account you will still only be able to sync your Inbox only “with leave a copy of messages on server set in the client” due to the nature of POP account setups.

If you want to sync all your other Mail folders, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks & Notes you would need to look at changing to an IMAP account setup where all your data is then stored on the server end and will then sync the same data to all your desktop and mobile devices.

So if you want to do that “and you have the available space on your server mailbox”, then leave your POP account as is and go to “Menu / Accounts” and add your same account again either via the automatic account wizard or manual IMAP account setup depending on your providor.

Once your account is setup again as IMAP, then drag / move all your Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks & Notes from your POP account over to your IMAP account. Once you are confident all your data is in your IMAP account then remove your POP account.

Hi, We have a common email address, therefore using in IMAP mode isn’t workable for us. Please suggest any other solution,

Does eM Client store these details in a separate file that I could sync between the two devices using one drive?

plsd to hear,

No the database cannot be split in separate files to sync to any other device.

You can only sync the same data to other devices when you have either a IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud server based account setup.

As i said if you want to continue using a POP account, then you will only be able to sync the Inbox with leave a copy of messages on server set in the client.

The only other option i can think of is eg: You can use a Widget like Google Keep in eM Client 10 & 11 Beta “to put Notes in” that might be suitable for your to-do list if you have a Google account.

So you could add data into the Widget and add the same Widget to your other eM Client desktop to sync the same Notes. See my post below to do that.

We have a common email address, therefore using in IMAP mode isn’t workable for us

I have no idea why an IMAP account is not workable for a common email address. Email address’s will work using any account type setup.

The imap in gmail isnt workable for us because of the following points.

  1. Only last 14 days of email is stored in the gmail website. On the 15th day that email gets deleted.
  2. The emails which i mark as important OR required follow up OR make to-do is not suitable/ needed for the other users. They may have their own preferences. Other users will receive notifications for the preferences i have set, this will cause nuisance to other users.
  3. Since the email gets deleted on the 15th day, it is possible the email that was marked as to-do / Importance wont remain on the IMAP server.

Email on Gmail online is not automatically deleted after 14 days. I have email there online since Gmail started their service & have always used IMAP.

The only time normally an email gets deleted “is when you move it to the Gmail Trash folder”. it will then stay in Gmail online Trash for 30days and then delete after that if you don’t retrieve it.

So if your emails are deleting in a Gmail after 14 days with an IMAP setup “it’s because someone else who has access to that same mailbox” is setting the account as POP in their Mail client and set to delete Mail from server after 14 days.

So make sure you & everyone else who accesses the same Gmail mailbox “all use IMAP on all their devices” if it’s a shared Gmail mailbox.

Note: The only other reason email can get automatically deleted in Gmail is eg: if you only have a free Gmail account with 15GB “and you go over that limit without paying” then eventually Gmail will reduce your Google space back to the free 15GB so your emails & other Google content will be deleted in that scenario above 15 GB. But Google give you fair warning before that happens.

Hi,

In our office we have servers set up which stores all mails. However, the server can be accessed only in office PC.

Therefore, in order to receive mails in laptop devices we use gmail which acts as a temporary storage only.

This is the setup we have and i cant change the company procedure.

Only thing i can do is look for a suitable workaround to carry on with my work. Therefore, i posted this thread.

Any solutions i can work with is requested and appreciated.
