Using free version 7.1.31849.0.
Most of my emails have 1mb attachments.
Downloads are super slow with em Client but not with other clients or webmail.
Seems to be a common problem with other users on this forum.
Is there a definitive fix or just an issue I have to live with?
I also installed on a clean Windows 7 PC with same results.

One thing you could try is set your IMAP account to download messages and attachments for offline use. There will be an initial delay when the message arrives and is downloaded depending on your connection speed, but later when you are reading them they should appear instantly in the message pane.
You will find the options on the IMAP tab for your account in Menu > Tools > Accounts.
