Startup: Trojan. Win.32Agent.oa!s1

hello,

I just restarted my computer to check my eM Client e-mail account and have been informed by both Windows defender firewall and Grindinsoft Anti-Malware that my computer is at risk due to an unwanted program and due to this I cannot executed my paid Pro account of emClient anymore. This is the message I got:

Startup: Trojan. Win.32Agent.oa!s1

C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client\MailClient.exe

HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run|em Client

Please let me know how to repair this issue.

Sounds like eM Client became infected from a virus that somehow got on your computer.

First thing to do is uninstall eM Client and (don’t delete the mail database) on uninstall when asked. Then make sure that folder C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client has been removed.

Then open Windows defender (Windows Security) and scan and remove that virus found as per your message above. Lastly once the virus is removed, d/l your (current version) of eM Client from the following version history page and reinstall eM Client. https://www.emclient.com/release-history

And of course, make sure Defender is fully updated.

It is not unknown for out-of-date security applications to give false positives.
