Specify secure connection during setup (SSL) ?

Just downloaded and attempted to set up a POP3 account. There were no options to use a secure (SSL) connection offered during setup. It would therefore seem to be a security risk to submit one’s actual password during setup.

Of course, it’s possible to use a fake password to complete setup, then go into settings, enable SSL and any port numbers, and then go back and supply the correct password, but what a pain!

Are the developers aware of this?

Hi Will, using the automatic setup, the autodiscover feature on your server will allow us to configure the account using it’s recommended settings, e.g. it is your mail server who’s telling the client how to setup the server settings.
This is a feature of the application, and we’re not considering it as a security issue, as in case an SSL/TLS port is available, it will be automatically setup.
