Just a follow up email as I asked the provider to give more information in terms of expected service levels with their packages, as I’m only on a shared hosted provider package so its a shared SMTP server, and they said on average that server could take up to a minute to respond and that is apparently pretty normal for shared web hosting SMTP servers, so setting the timeout to about 120 should give it 4 mins to time out, but thought this may be useful information for other users who have similar issues on shared webhost packages.
