What does the “Show name from contact” option do under Settings > Email > Reading?

I don’t see any difference in the views. I would expect that if I disable it, the contact’s name wouldn’t be displayed — only the email address.

The “Show name from contact” option in eM Client tells the app to replace or override the sender’s display name shown in your email lists and headers with the specific name you saved for that person in your local Contacts list.

How It Works

  • Enabled (Default): If an incoming email has a blank, generic, or unwanted display name (or you prefer your own saved naming convention), eM Client looks up the sender’s email address in your address book and displays your saved contact name instead.

  • Disabled: The app relies strictly on the name provided in the incoming email’s raw message header, or defaults to showing the raw email address if no sender name is attached by the sender.
