Searching not behaving as I would expect

So I am confused by the search tool. I most often search by someones email address and I feel like it should be as easy as typing that address in, which em Client auto completes for me, then selecting it and then every email that is in my accounts that includes that address should return in the results.

But by default it seems like it’s only returning search results from the inbox, no where else in my accounts (both g-mail based accounts) and I can’t seem to find a filter option in the search dropdown that would enable what I want.

Pointers?

Click the down-arrow in the red-outlined box and choose “All Folders”

ah yes of course… it was just not intuitive as that option disappears as soon as you start typing anything you are searching for… so it must be preset.
