This issue only appeared in the last few weeks. Around that time I incorrectly typed the address for one of my common respondents (I left out a letter). Not surprisingly it was rejected by the relevant server.
But now everytime I hit “reply” to an email from that person, emClient populates the “To” field with that incorrect email address - not the “Reply-to” address from the incoming email (which is right).
I’ve deleted mention of the incorrect address in the “Received From” list under Settings/Mail/Compose; turned off ‘Search sent emails’; and verified the correct email address is in my contact lists.
Does anyone have an idea what is going on and how to fix this? - it keeps stuffing up what should be a simple ‘Reply’!
Hi there,
I tested this out and here are my findings:
sent test to xmoose@blah.
Then I tested if it auto selects/completes the contacts in which it did, until the last step below where it didn’t. So maybe one of these is your solution.
Deleted sent email
Still there.
Deleted from Tools>Contacts (all contacts) [this threw an error to google, but it removed the contact from the tools>contacts all the same.
Still there.
Deleted from the Settings/mail/Compose>Show Recipients… list
No longer there.
So maybe one of those places might work for you. I’m on MacOS 15.7.1 eM Client V:10.3.2622
Thanks MPDX for validating what I was finding.
The only step I hadn’t done in that list was to check through all my folders (particularly the sent) and delete all instances of the wrong email address.
All the rest are clear - and now as you found, it has resolved.
Much appreciated you taking the time to troubleshoot a solution for me! Lloyd
And just when I thought it was resolved - it wasn’t. I’ve just tried to reply to another email from the same sender - and it defaulted (i.e. pre-filled the “To” field) to the incorrect address.
I’ve followed all your steps MPDX but no luck this time. So frustrating!
