Reaction to the authentication problem

Dear users,

If you have an (Hotmail, Live, MSN) account set as IMAP, you probably experienced the issue with a pop-up window stating that “We’re unable to complete your request”. This was caused by a problem with application registration this morning and we started working on a fix right away.

As a workaround, you can set the account with Exchange protocol instead of IMAP. Delete the current account in Menu > Tools > Accounts and reconfigure it in Accounts > Add account > Mail > Exchange. The guide is on our website:

The other option is to download the fix version and install it as usual. DOWNLOAD THE WINDOWS FIX VERSION or DOWNLOAD THE MAC OS FIX VERSION.

Both of these options will solve the authentication issue and let you keep using your account.
