re: google calendar connection

I’m getting an error sync’ing with google calendar.  Am logged in to my account via browser.  Have checked other forum entries but can’t find any further details.  Message below confirms that password is correct in emClient but what is the deal with not following modern security standards?

Google is complaining as follows in an email they sent to me:

We recently blocked a sign-in attempt to your Google Account

If this wasn’t you
Please review your Account Activity page at https://security.google.com/settings/security/activityto see if anything looks suspicious. Whoever tried to sign in to your account knows your password; we recommend that you change it right away.

If this was you
You can switch to an app made by Google such as Gmail to access your account (recommended) or change your settings at https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureappsso that your account is no longer protected by modern security standards.

Hi Ray, eM Client currently supports two types of authentication with your Gmail account, you can either use your regular web access password for authentication, but only if you enable the “less secure” option on your google account.

If you’d like to keep your account more secure, you can enable the two step authentication option for your google account and generate an app specific password for use with eM Client.

We’re currently working on an upcoming release of eM Client 7 which will include the more modern security standard.

Thank you,
Paul

Glad it works, please make sure to let us know if you come across any other issues or questions about the application, we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you,
Paul
