Problem with searching in PDF

Hello,

I installed the test version of eM Client for a customer. Here no result will be displayed
in the search if the search term is in a PDF.

I sent the email to my computer (I have the PRO version). Here you will find the content.
I have selected in the search options that attachments are searched.I have selected in the search options that attachments are searched.

The latest version is installed on both computers.

What can be the problem?

Best regards
Armin

It is dependent on the PDF reader you have installed.

If it only has 64bit filters you won’t be able to search PDF attachments, because eM Client is a 32bit application and can’t use them.

Check with the PFD app vendor if they have 32bit filters that can be installed/enabled.

Hello,
I checked on my computer where searching works. Adobe Acrobat (64bit) is installed here.

Which software should I install for the customer so that the search works? Is there an alternative in 32bit other than Adobe reader?

Best regards

Acrobat 64bit is fine, but you need 32 filters as well. Check with the PFD app vendor if they have 32bit filters that can be installed/enabled.

Hello,
Thanks a lot for the response.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the technical knowledge to check this. Is there a 32 filter you can install?

Thank you.

You will need to ask the PDF viewer app vendor about that. So Adobe.

Hello,
many thanks for the answer.
I submitted a query to Adobe in the forum.
I have a fundamental question. If you don’t have a PDF application installed,
which application would be right for EmClient to work properly?

Best regards
Armin

Hello,
Now I have installed the 32 bit version of Adobe Reader, but it still doesn’t work. I have already repaired the software.

What could be the mistake?

Best regards
Armin

@ArminB

Installing the 64bit or 32bit versions of Adobe reader shouldn’t in my view make any different to the search pdf problem in eM Client. They are only pdf readers. If you have Windows you can even just use Edge or Chrome as a default pdf reader with eM Client.

If you can’t find messages with pdf files in eM Client which I presume you are trying to do, just try searching in eM Client with the search line as *.pdf and make sure you have selected “all folders” in the dopdown.

Searching via *.pdf also works in the eM Client app.
