My dad uses EM client on a dell PC that is at least 10 years old running windows 10. I want him to switch to a Mac because it will be easier for me to support him. How easy is it to move all of his existing email files and folders over to either the Mac native mail program or EM client on a Mac?
The databases should be the same on both platforms, you just need to make sure to get the same (or as close as possible) versions of the app itself.
Installation files for all versions are available in our Release History.
Then you just need to make a backup on Windows (Menu>Backup), bring the ZIP file to mac, install eM Client (you can skip all initial setup, since you’ll be restoring from backup anyway) and then use File > Restore (and select the folder where you ZIP backup is).

As for license, if you don’t have the key on hand, it can be resent using this page: Lost Activation Key | eM Client
Then just use the key in Help>License section of the app.
