Passwords on Android mobile app

I have recently had my mail account at Plusnet moved to mail service provider - Greenby.com.

After a good deal trouble, I managed to get my emails via my desktop eM Client app after some problems with passwords.

However, I have not been successful in getting eM Client functioning properly on either of my Android phones (Pixel 6a and Moto g9 power).

The problem would appear to be to do with passwords. These are set to the same as the desktop but no success

What is your Greenby Incoming and Outgoing Mail “server address, server port and security policy” in the droid mobile app ?

Also what version of the app are you running ?

For incoming mail I use POP3 for various reasons - mainly because IMAP is useless in poor signal areas.
moto g9 - server name: POP3 mail.plus.net SMTP: relay.plus.net POP3 port: 110 STARTTLS SMPT:465 TLS (I tried to use 995 for POP3 but it changed itself to 110 with STARTTLS)

Pixel 6a - server name: POP3 mail.plus.net SMTP: relay.plus.net POP3 port: 110 STARTTLS SMPT: 25 STARTTLS (I tried to use 995 for POP3 and 587 for SMPT but the app again changed itself)

App version: 10.4.4762

I should also point out that on my desktop version the app also changed ports to POP3: 110 STARTTLS and SMPT: 25 STARTTLS. I did try to set other ports (995 and 587).

I should also point out that on my desktop version the app also changed ports to POP3: 110 STARTTLS and SMPT: 25 STARTTLS

If the desktop works with these non secure port settings, then on the Android app when you add the account “choose the “”Manual” option and choose “Other” and enter your details.

Also when you get to the diagnostics part of the manual wizard “ignore that” and “skip it” so the settings don’t change. You can then change it later manually to what you want.

Note: Remember too at the end of the manual POP wizard choose “if you want the account mail in a separate folder tree” or “in Local folders” as you cannot change it after unless you remove and readd the account all over again.

If you are using Non Secure POP connection you would normally use the following

Incoming Server Port 110 & (STARTTLS if available) or (Dont us secure connection)

Outgoing Seever port 25 & (STARTTLS if available) or (Dont us secure connection)

If you are using a Secure POP connection you would normally use the following.

Incoming Server Port 995 and Security Policy "Use TLS on Special Port”

Outgoing Server Port 587 and Security Policy "Use STARTTLS (Allways)

Or

Outgoing Server Port 465 and Security Policy
“Use TLS on Special Port”

If you are using Secure IMAP connections you would normally use the following.

Incoming Server Port 993 and Security Policy "Use TLS on Special Port”

Outgoing Server Port 587 and Security Policy "Use STARTTLS (Allways)

Or

Outgoing Server Port 465 and Security Policy
“Use TLS on Special Port”

Now if none of the above works then go to “Settings / Show Operations” and go to the “Log tab” and look for any obvious error messages and past them in this thread. Blank out anything personal. We might then be able to see what’s wrong.

Alternatively “if there is no POP Mail in eM Client mobile app, “remove the account” and go on the desktop to export via QR Code, via “Menu / Tools / QR Export” (Pc) or “Tools / QR Export” (Mac) and select your accounts and whatever else you want the same in the mobile app and then at the end you can “scan the QR Code in the mobile app” to then import the identical settings etc as the desktop as per the QR Export documentation.

Hi. Thank you for that - I seem to have got them both working - I can receive emails and I think send them OK. There is something not quite right but I think I can live with that.

Thanks

Peter

Remember also with the POP setup to set the desktop and mobile apps “to leave a copy of messages on server for x days” under the “POP Tab” to then allow both to get same mail.
