Outlook email sync recently stopped working. I’ve tried both automatically and manually and it doesn’t sync. Is anyone experiencing the same problem?
I have that issue too. occurred last week but unsure what day. My inbox only has a small portion of emails and they’re old. Web version shows much much more.
I removed the account, shut down the app and restart, then added it again. It didn’t work. I am authenticated properly too.
Outlook (Hotmail) email sync recently stopped working. I’ve tried both automatically and manually and it doesn’t sync.
You need to be using the automatic account wizard with Outlook.com Hotmail.com & Live.com accounts.
If you have already tried removing and re-adding your IMAP account via the “automatic account wizard” and allowed eM Client access to your MS account at the end of the wizard and no new mail receives, then sometimes that can be caused by eg: optionally installed firewall / security programs or optionally installed antivirus programs or vpns. So if you have anything like that installed other than what comes default with the OS, then try completely disabling those programs to test incase of interference.
However if you have no optionally installed programs like that or disabling those made no difference, then “click the dropdown” on the right of Refresh top left and click “Show Operations”. Then click the “Log tab” and look for any obvious error messages and paste them in this thread. We might then be able to see what’s wrong.
Also update what version of eM Client you have and if your are using Windows or Mac.
The below is also and example Outlook.com IMAP and SMTP settings from using the automatic account wizard in eM Client V10.
I ran the tests again and checked for possible programs that were blocking it. At first, there was nothing.
I removed it and tried to add the account to EMCLIENT again, but now, after filling in the information, an account.live.com screen opens in the browser asking if you are trying to log into EMCLIENT. Pressing Continue returns the focus to EMCLIENT on the continue screen and does not advance. If you click Continue, the account.live.com confirmation screen opens again and it stays in this infinite cycle.
I registered the account manually as instructed, but when I try to synchronize, a message appears asking for the username and password. Even if I fill it in correctly, it asks for the same thing again.
I use Windows.

I posted above tests performed and logs.
Remove the account and then close eM Client and then “set another browser as default” and then reopen eM Client and then try adding the account again via the automatic account wizard.
Failing that, go online into your Microsoft account and remove any existing eM Client third party apps OAuth tokens. Then close and reopen eM Client and try again.
If still the same problem, update what version of eM Client you using, and what version of Windows you have.
I changed the default browser, removed the existing tokens in Outlook and tried again, but it was unsuccessful.
Important details: EM CLIENT 9 PRO version is fully updated, Windows 11 Pro 24/7.
New test performed: if you manually add the settings in EM CLIENT and go to the diagnostics tab, it shows that the SMTP is not responding. Clicking on SMTP repair fails to repair. Clicking on POP3 repair shows a warning saying that the server outlook.office365.com requires authentication. When I click yes, several servers appear requiring authentication until it shows that an email server was detected but the credentials were rejected, asking me to enter another email and password. I inform the same, because I am sure that the password is correct and it does not connect.

Ok so it’s not a OAuth token or browser related problem
New test performed: if you manually add the settings in EM CLIENT and go to the diagnostics tab, it shows that the SMTP is not responding.
You carn’t manually add Hotmail accounts due to Microsoft changes sometime ago, and “need to use the automatic account wizard setup” which uses the secure OAuth token login via browser.

Ok so you have the latest eM Client V9. Then might be a problem “with your current eM Client installation and/or database”. So I would next suggest (if you haven’t already tried), to uninstall eM Client and “delete the database” and then download and reinstall the latest Version 9.2.2307 from the release history page and try again.
If uninstalling and reinstalling and setting up new still has the same problem, then I’d suggest to “create a new admin computer user profile” and install eM Client in that, and see if that works as could be your current user profile has an issue.
