Not the right amount of new mail

Hi!

I found out that I don’t have the correct amount of new mail nest to the “folder” (category) but in the status bar, it is the right one.

I’m connected to my outlook account.

Also, as an improvement, is it possible to have an “x” button that appear next to the folder I want to “empty”? it would be very nice not having to go to the contextual menu to empty the junk mail folder. Or maybe put the “empty junk mail folder” in bold to make it easier to see.

I also have some “Synchronization error (ServerError)” message here and there… Can somebody help with this matter?

Hello Ianick,
what version of eM Client are you currently running? Check the Help>About section for exact number. Make sure you have the latest one by checking for updates in the Help menu.

As for the Synchronization error, go to Tools>Operations>Log window next time it pops up and copy its contents here. I am afraid that without these details we can’t say what the issue is.

Is your outlook account set up as AirSync/IMAP or Exchange?

Thanks for your reply. I already check for the latest version of eM Client.  I’m already at the latest version.

I installed the program about a week ago. When I did, the program imported my account from “Windows Live Mail” so i’m not sure how the account is set but I believe it is on AirSync/IMAP; the account settings are pretty limited and all I can see is the server name: m.hotmail.com.

I think the server setting is not the right one but it works. I checked on outlook.com how to set other programs to send/receive email and here is the info I got:

Apps that support Exchange ActiveSync

With EAS you can get your email immediately, as well as see all your folders, calendar and contacts in one place. If your email app supports Exchange ActiveSync and you need to configure it manually, use the following settings.

  • Server address: s.outlook.com

  • Domain:

  • User name: Your email address

  • Password: Your password

  • TLS/SSL encryption required: Yes

I just change the server name to  s.outlook.com  and the sync is way more faster than before (I was watching the status and I was able to see the sync from every folder). The problem is that I tried to send me an email and I haven’t received it in eM Client but on outlook I did. I tried several time to send and receive in eM but I still don’t see it. Even after trying to switch back to m.hotmail.com , I still don’t see the email.

Unfortunately, I don’t really have time this morning to check everything out. If you have another solution for me, I’m all ears!

As for the sync error, the next time I have one, I will sure send you all the information

Hello Ian,
the AirSync protocol, while it can still work sometimes, is being discontinued by Microsoft and most accounts are being moved to Exchange.
I suggest setting up your mail account anew in Tools>Accounts but instead of automatic set up, choose Mail>Exchange or Mail other for IMAP option.
If you choose IMAP, your incoming server would be imap-mail.outlook.com and outgoing smtp-mail.outlook.com

Looks like I was able to set up my acount correctly with the IMAP option using the “other” mail setting. The thing is that when eM Client tries to check the settings in the first place after entering the addresses, I had to “fix” it with the fix button (so that the program find the correct port to be able to sync).
