Not receiving Outlook emails

Yes.

You can’t use oAuth with Exchange. It has been like that for some time even before the current IMAP oAuth issue. That is restriction that MS have purposely placed on their server.

Yes, because the account was not setup using oAuth in those applications. But now your email provider has fixed their problem, so you can use oAuth again in all applications.

Thanks.
my question still stands though: If so, how do we revert this regkey eMC posted please?

Run Regedit

Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eM Client

Delete AllowExchangeOnlineOAuth

If you do that you will not be able to add a free Outlook.com account using Exchange.

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! The issue has been fixed. Thank you for all the people posting & helping with this issue, especially Gary.

Product Managers, not users, have responsibility for managing internal and external issues – including this one. Expecting each of your users to work with Microsoft for a fix is not practical nor responsible. I have switched back to the Microsoft email client until this issue is resolved.

Confirmation here. I re-added my outlook.com email accounts with OAuth and passwordless authentication and they are working fine now. Thank you very much eM Client for the hard work here.

Incredible!
Wow I have dealt with a lot of so called software specialists in my time but never have I dealt with such dedicated moderators as I have here at EMC. Gary I am not sure how you handled all of the posts but the manner in which you did was more than admiral! You deserve a lot of credit for your dedication to each and every post over the past seven days and I for one cannot thank you enough.

To all the moderators that provided input and work arounds “Thank You”! The fact that I am a free user and can depend on this type of attention is just one of the many reasons that keep EMC rising on the charts of the best desktop emails available today.

Hats off to everyone who contributed to this situation! Hopefully we have crossed the bridge and and all this dirty water we have endured is well down stream for now.

I do have one question though in regards to the manual work-around account.

When I delete that account and it has the same name as the oAUTH account is there any possibility of the original account also being deleted which would also delete all of my folders?

Hi @nkhawand

Product Managers, not users,…

I do not know if you have a Free or Pro License at this time it is not relevant.

Personally I think you are possibly making assumptions over a situation where you don’t have all the facts.
For instance this Forum is supported by Users who give up there free time to help others.
Users who have a Free license do not have access to eMC support and are aware of this when they decide to use eMC, this being the case it is not unreasonable for Users to ‘Self Help’.
Pro License users have access to eMC support and could expect more though an amount of ‘Self Help’ never did anybody any harm.
Frankly I do not know how @Gary, by far the most active contributor and helper, did what he did for so many.
All who have benefited from his help should thank him.

I must apologize, I thought @Gary was a company representative.

That said, in previous rolls I have served as a product manager, and my recommendation is for the problem to be reported directly to eM Client and help them to get a sense of how many users of their application are affected. Because this issue is impacting so many people, they need to serve as the liason to Microsoft for resolution of this issue. That way Microsoft has a single point of contact for the issue, and if necessary the eM Client support staff can roll out a fix to all it’s users.

Just for clarification - Pro users only get VIP support free for the first year of their new license. After that, they have to pay for the VIP support if they want it or just use the Forum like everyone else.

Yes I am aware of that and I also know that the extension only costs 7.95€/year (a glass of wine)

I personally think Gary did a great job. Whiny people are a part of the Internet experience. He could have locked the thread long ago.

Kudos to Gary. :+1:

Gary, thank you for your help over the last week. Clearly MS stuffed up but you copped a lot of misdirected ‘emotion’ in the meantime. Again, thanks.

Thank you very much Gary for your help this week !
It helps a lot to assume my work due to this fail of Microsoft.
Regards

This thread is an excellent example of how a Forum should work. It allowed a User to identify a problem, provided an active mechanism for many other Users to recommend suggestions and ask questions to further the investigation, permitted both positive and sometimes negative responses, let eM Client understand our frustration, and ultimately obtained a solution.

I thank all the Users who participated on this Forum and eM Client personnel for helping to get this issue resolved. And, I especially thank Gary who took a lot of unnecessary flack for trying to help us understand what was really going on and for providing a work-around solution that helped many of us continue to use our email during this period.

Hi,

I asked this question in my post (#391) and did not get a reply so I would like to ask again. Sorry for the repeated question.

Being restricted to two accounts I would like to now delete the workaround account which was set up manually to avoid the oAuth situation and add my Gmail account to sync with my phone.
However my concern here is that this workaround account has the same name as my original account and I am wondering if the deletion of the account will also delete the original? I have numerous “Local Folders” and would not want to see them deleted. I feel that it would not but the concern makes me ask the question before I hit the “Are you sure you want to delete this account?” button.

Thanking you in advance.
Richard

When you click on the account, if it has username/password in the Authentication section on the General tab, it is the workaround. If it has no Authentication section on the General tab, it is the oAuth account.

If you delete your work-around account, it should not delete your original account or your local folders. Keep in mind I said “should not” but won’t guarantee.

Hi Gary, Laurel_Valley & Senior Advisor,

Thank you for the reply. Sorry to have to post again but I really appreciate the detail especially that contained in “Senior_Advisor” reply. I will save that message for future reference and I now feel comfortable with moving forward to hit the dreaded “DELETE”. Lol!!!

Hey once again thank you for your help on this.

Take care & stay safe!!
