No contacts on install

I have installed an existing Gmail account but I cannot get my contacts and calendar to install. I think the present setup is for creating a new Gmail account. I have used OTHER since the AUTO install stops at Authentication screen. Please instruct me how to get my contacts and Calendar along with my Gmail account. Creating a new email address is not an option.

Rick, have you - after setting up the account:
gone to Tools, Accounts
selected the gmail account
Clicked on the Calendar and Contacts tab
Checked the Enable Service box?

Sorry of this is too obvious and you’ve done it.

Hi Neil,

I now have my two accounts which includes gmail, installed in win7 but there is no Contact AND/OR Calendar “tabs” especially if you mean inline with the General, Imap, Smtp and Diagnostic tabs. “Enable Account” was checked. If I click in the Contact and Calendar buttons they bring up a Select Folder dialog box which nothing can be printed in or selected except the Cancel button.
I know my contacts are still present on gmail and eM Client has synced all if my folders in both accounts and they have email in them. I have also gone back to release 5 to see if release 6 was having problems. That doesn’t seem to be the case unless it is present in both releases. I hope it’s just something I have missed. I’ve been trying different things off and on for several days now. I don’t wnat to go to Outlook because when it was working with XP it was a great program.

Rick, I should say at this point that I’m an eM Client newbie myself - just a few weeks so far, having got fed up with the Gmail browser interface and the direction that Google is taking them with Inbox and Contacts Preview.  It took me a while to figure things out (complicated by the fact that I was doing the setup from a hotel room with flaky wifi).

Yes, the Contacts and Calendar tab should be exactly where you say. Two possible things to try:
in the manual set up process there are 4 steps. The last one, Finish, offers you checkboxes for Mail, Chat and Calendar,Contacts. I assume you’ve checked the right boxes! And at the bottom of the dialog box is a rather enigmatic notice: it says “In order to use your calendar account you have to access it using web interface first”. My reaction to that was to open my calendar in Chrome (my preferred browser) before clicking Finish (or End or whatever the button said), and leaving it open while I did a Send/Receive in eM Client.

I also use IMAP, though I believe contacts and calendar work across POP3. I enabled IMAP in Gmail settings, of course.

Hope this helps.

Neil,

The funny thing is everything in eM Client is set up like I want it on my laptop. I’ve tried to duplicate everything over on my desktop but of course I’m dealing with a different HD and I don’t have the faintest idea where the files are for the contacts or what they are called. Some how I did get the Google calendar to come in (blank of course) and widgets. All of my contacts are in Gmail.
I’m sorry but I don’t find this an easy install when it comes to transfering contacts over from one computer to another but then again I’m not having any luck with Outlook either. I can’t move files over that I don’t know what they are called. BTW I’m trying to create accounts for an ISP account and a gmail account on the free 2 account system after upgrading my OS from XP to WIN 7.

Rick, do you now have a Contacts & Calendars tab in the account settings, if your gmail calendar has appeared?

On Win7, the eM Client files are in C:\Users*user*\AppData\Roaming\eM Client. Though I’d be very cautious of copying contacts lists around - you might end up with a load of duplicates.

And - another dumb question perhaps - in Contacts vew, ahve you checked the box next to Contacts and clicked the Refresh button? That’s a trap I fell into when I was setting up eM Client.

Neil

Hello Rick, sorry for the late reply, this post seem to have been hiding from us, are you still experiencing issues with this?
