newly install emClient fails to sync with gmail

I’ve installed emClient, and it won’t retrieve messages from gmail.  The error log contains:

This account has two-factor authentication enabled.  I’ve looked for some place to enter the app password, but ‘edit account’ doesn’t look like the screen shot in the documentation.

Is this just broken?  Or has Google changed something?

I had a similar issue. I turned off two-factor authentication on gmail and it started working. It took it about 24 hours so not sure if that was the issue or it took gmail that long to update settings.
