New license not recognized

I purchased the Client 10 Upgrade and downloaded all the updates. Started with the earliest update, but when Client opens I get a box saying that “This Version of eMClient is newer than what your current license permits.” And instructs me to downgrade to a lower version or purchase the upgrade (which I’ve already done). The license information from the Menu only reflects the old version 9 license. Please help!

Probably your best option is to contact: [email protected]

When you purchased the V10 upgrade you should normally have received a new license. So check your spam / junkmail folder incase its gone there.

If you do find the upgrade license in your emails, go to “Menu / Help / License” and deactivate your V9 current license, and then enter your new V10 license and activate again.

Just a small correction - a new key is only created if you change the number of devices on your license.

If you purchase an upgrade for a license and keep the number of devices as-is, the license key stays the same, so that installing the upgrade is easy

We recommend upgrading directly from inside eM Client after purchasing an upgrade (menu>Check for updates), as sometimes the warning about the old license might just be caused by the fact that eM Client didn’t have the chance to connect to the license server yet to receive this new information about the purchased upgrade.
(If that is the case, running the program and connecting to the license server despite the warning will resolve this)

If the issue persists, it’s also good to contact our Sales team so they can check the purchase and license details.
