New Customer Questions

I just started using your software due to issues with Outlook 2016. I upgraded my computer to Windows 10. When I setup Outlook 2016, my cable modem somehow became corrupt. It would not let me go to my VPS server to get my mail. I do not believe in coincidences.

I have eM Client 7.02.26687.0. I have one question and one issue.

Question:

I saw this question from users a few years ago but cannot determine if a solution was implemented. On my server, I have many email accounts. With your program, I need to have all account folders expanded (left most column) in order to determine if the account has new mail. Ideally, I would like to NOT expand the account folders, to make going to an account easier, but have someway that indicates that the account has new mail. I understand not color coding, etc. Is there a flag that I can set to have the account name indicate that it has new mail when the folder is not expanded? Perhaps you could consider added 3-5 stars at the end of the account name, when displaying it, if the account is not expanded but has some new mail as an option or something similar.

Issue:

Everything worked fine for about a week. Now I am getting an error message, sometimes, that says:

Exception of type ‘System.OutOfMemoryException’ was thrown.

My desktop has:
Windows 10
Intel® Core™ i7 CPU  920 @ 2.67GHz 2.67 GHz
6.00 GB RAM
64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
354 GB free of 465 GB on drive C
Other than installed software, all of my other files are stored on other drives.

While doing this, eM Client stopped running. No error message. Its checking for corrupted database & inconsistent data on restart. It indicates Done with a green check mark for corrupted database. It states that no inconsistent data was found.

The restart is working for now. If you have seen this issue and know of something that I can do to correct it, let me know. Otherwise, I will let you know if it happens again.

Make it simple: the root folder must be displayed in a different colour and bold. Like in thunderbird.

Just a suggestion from personal experience, should it apply:

Your computer is about as old as mine.  I have a 2009 model Dell XPS 435T desktop with an i7 940 cpu running @2.93Ghz with 6GB of RAM.

If your hard drive is the original, you might want to check it’s health. There are different utilities out there that can do this but I use Hard Disk Sentinelhttp://www.hdsentinel.com/ ).  You can download it and use it for free to check your drives.

I suggest this because when I did this, out of curiosity,  for my old computer, I found that my hard drive had only 4% health left, and when I tried to run Disk Doctor (a normal Windows utility), which works outside the OS, it would not complete or allow me back into Windows.  So, I had no choice but to upgrade my hard drive, and did so with a new SSD.  I had to do a clean install of Windows 10 and call Microsoft to get the license sorted out.  I was able to use the failing drive as a slave drive to get all data off of it before discarding it, fortunately.

So, do check your hard drive if it is the original.  You certainly have more than enough RAM in your system that you should not be running out of it, and you have enough storage on your C: drive.  If the other hard drives are mechanical, not a SSDs, be sure there is at least 10% free space and that they are defragmented.
