Hi,
I am doing mailbox clean-up and decided to move a folder from my imap server to local. I right clicked on the folder and selected “Move Folder”. From there I put the folder in my local archive.
The folder moved to the right place but many of the messages don’t seem to have followed. Roughly a hundred recent emails moved to the local folder but the rest are unaccounted for.
I can’t see the unaccounted for emails on the imap server but the server indicates the mailbox storage hasn’t changed.
Is there a way to get the messages to appear again? Or did I somehow lose them? These are not critical or highly personal emails so losing the emails permanently isn’t a catastrophe but if I can get them back it would be preferred.
If you have moved a lot of IMAP messages to a Local folder that can sometimes take time “depending on the size of the server mail folder” and “what’s in each message” like attachments etc.
So as they haven’t all appeared yet, “click the dropdown on the right of Refresh” and click “Show Operations” and you should see where it’s up to in the download / synching process.
If you don’t see anything synching “click Refresh” and then go back to Show Operations.
Thank you for reply. Check the operations page and there were no current operations. I tried refreshing and it still reads “There are no operations in progress”. I initiated the move roughly 24 hours ago and I haven’t seen any progress beyond the initial 100 emails. I had the account set to sync to last one day. Not sure if that had an effect or not. I also have not updated the software yet, could that be causing the hold up?
I would then do a search for the missing emails by sender, subject or body incase they have been accidentally moved to another folder. See the following blog on the various ways to search.

Yes it could limit what you see in the client even if they have already been downloaded. So to test, I would set the IMAP acct tab sync time to “All Time” and then click Refresh and see if they all appear.
The article was informative but none of the search techniques yielded the missing emails.
I changed the sync time, refreshed and the emails have not appeared.
I also updated em client to the new version and the emails are still missing.
I appreciate the suggestions. Not sure what else can be done, if anything.
If the missing messages are still not showing anywhere in the Favourites Global folders or Local Folders as per the screenshots below enabled via “Menu / Settings / General / Folders” in V10, then I would then suggest to contact offical support who might be able to assist you further.
So if you are still inside your 30day trial of the program email [email protected] for initial setup assistance / advise.
Or if you are outside your 30day trial period and have purchased the program, go to the VIP support page and login and lodge a support ticket for offical assistance.
If you have run out of your 12months support you can get another year extension via the following page. VIP Support Extension | eM Client
Apart from contacting official support, you could also ask your mailbox technical support online who host your mailbox if they have backups of your mailbox that can be restored to get that mail. Some mail servers keep customer mailbox backups.
Thank you! I am going to submit a ticket.
