I’ve set up the “Move to Archive” button on my taskbar. When I open messages, it appears on some and not others. Same account, it is a Gmail account. It seems random, sometimes it isn’t there and sometimes it is. Anyone else having this issue?
First, despite the menu items being customizable, they are still context sensitive. Therefore, if your are in a view that does not support a particular function, the menu item will not appear even if you have included it on the toolbar.
What I have found (I use all gmail) is that the “move to archive” button does not show when you open the message from the smart folders but does appear when you open it from the actual inbox (or other folder in the actual account). There are several functions (e.g., empty junk, edit a draft) that can only be done from the actual inbox, not the smartfolder and this appears to be one of them.
Let me know if this makes sense to you, and you see the same thing.
Thanks Jay. That makes sense, but I’m opening messages the same way each time. I just open from Inbox each time, I don’t use Smartfolders.
It’s weird, because I’m performing the same exact action between 2 Emails, and one has the button and one does not. Sent to same account, opening both from Inbox
Hmmm. I guess I don’t know what to tell you. Every email I open from the inbox has the menu item available. Stumped. Sorry!
Hello Miklosch,
Sorry for the inconvenience. Could we please ask you what version you’re using? There was indeed a bug like this in some older versions but it should be fixed in the newest one, available from http://www.emclient.com/release-history

Maurice
Hi Maurice, I’m on 7.0.27943.0
Maurice, I think I may have realized something new. When opening an Email from the Inbox, I DO have the Move to Archive button. When I click on a balloon notification to open up the Email, it seems to be missing. I didn’t realize I was using both of those methods, but just noticed.
So the problem may be isolated to the Balloon Notification portion, when clicking on the balloon. Hope that helps!
Hello Miklosch,
Thank you very much for specifying. This bug will be fixed in the next update. In the meantime, we apologize for the inconvenience.
Regards,
Maurice
Hi Maurice, any update on this bug fix? It’s still happening, and causing me problems.
Hello Miklosch,
We’re sorry that the fix is still not accessible, it will only be released as part of the 7.1 version as this release is the current priority. We’d please ask you for patience.
With apologies,
Maurice
I have the same problem, after a year, the bug is still there…
Same here in April of 2019! WTF?
April 2020… archive button available and working for some accounts, but not others. Would like a basic setting to simply designate any given account folder as the Archive folder. When archive button is pressed (for a non-gmail account), it moves the given email to the designated folder. Easy peasy.
This has been implemented in version 8, and archiving now works with all IMAP accounts.
