Went into the Settings > Calendar > Work Week and changed the First day of the Week to Sunday (from Monday which, apparently, was the default). Did a “Save & Close” and the display of the monthly calendar did, indeed, show Sunday as the first day of the week; however, all the scheduled events did not update on-screen. As I could not select one particular event (the only one for next friday), I realized this was simply a display issue (presumably, only the week header updated but not the entire window). I arrowed to next month and then back to this month and everything was now fine.
