How do you update a misspelled name in the contacts file? I changed the spelling of a name but later when I wrote an email to the individual eMC inserted the earlier spelling.

I am not certain, it is logical to try the following
Menu ->Settings ->Mail ->Privacy ->Show Whitelist ->Delete the incorrect address
The corrected address will be added from Contacts the next time used.

EMC maintains a file of past email recipients. When you go to enter the TO address you may get the drop down containing the old and new addresses.
You can delete the old address from here:
