Lost ability to use AOL mail server two hours ago

I have a Compuserve address but it is now hosted on AOL.

Earlier this morning it worked on my two email addresses. Now it rejects me.

I have tried putting in another third party password with no success.

Any clues please?

I now see that it is down for everybody who is not using the basic mail reader in a browser.

Same for me (except with Verizon address).
If anyone has any help suggestions I’d love to know them.

AOL in the UK came back at around 16.30 GMT

Finally figured it out - i had to create a new “app password” from AOL’s security site. I don’t know why I had to do that but it seems to be working now.

The need for a different password on a third party email reader seems to be essential with AOL. Once you get the hang it is easy to do so is worth looking at when you are not in panic mode!!
