Is there a way to keep inbox messages in the unread status, that is bold, until I decide that they can be set as read and filed into archiving folders? I have the “Mark messages read after displaying for XX seconds” option unchecked, but even if I mark them as unread after a while (perhaps after restarting the application) they return to the read status.

Is it possible that you have read these e-mails on another device or on the server and then they got synchronized as read in eM Client?

Yes, this is very possible. Anyway, as also suggested in another thread I have enabled Smart view and now I can see unread-status messages stably.
