I keep getting error messages indicating the app must close. Sometimes when I am opening the app, sometimes as I’m using it. It then tries to re-establish the database, sometimes successfully, others not so. Sometimes it says I haven’t shut it down properly, when in fact I have…
Hi Jack,
could you please take a screenshot of the error messages when they pop up? Please also include which version of eM Client you’re running (Help > About section).
Here is the screen capture of a typical error message. On occasion, I have closed the app and reopened it later. It says I didn’t close it properly before.
same here

Hi Tom,
since those are system errors, the actual content of the error might be different. If the same window pops up, please also view the error by clicking “Show error” and copy paste the contents here.
Oh, okay, the message i got before didnt include the text of the error, strange. Thank you.
Looks like your database is broken though. I recommend restoring your data from a back up or deleting the current database and re-adding your accounts into eM Client.
I’ve tried an un-install and re-install but it still has remnants left over from the original. How can I completely un-install emclient to perform a install just like the first time?
Thanks
It’s not about the program, but your database.
Unless you changed the location of it, it’s usually in C:\Users\ your username \AppData\Roaming\eM Client
Understood. Suggestion - maybe have the un-installer ask if you want user data kept or un-installed as well? Nice option to have so you don’t have to look for user data.
