"Javascript disabled" error on adding gmail account

FYI, as you mentioned, i can add a 2-step gmail account as an eM “Other” account, using a google app-password, rather than using the eM gmail wizard. So that works.

thx

ok, this is weird. I cancelled the gmail wizard, then added my gmail account as an “Other” account, using a gmail app-password.

The inbox loaded. Great.

Then i restarted the computer, then restarted eM, and sent an email.

Then, the 2-step validation window popped open. I cancelled it and tried to check the gmail password in account settings, but i cannot find a way to manually enter the gmail smtp password.

So, it seems i cannot get gmail to work even with app-password.

any fix for this?

see new comments above.

more info:

when i added the gmail account as an “Other” email account, using these instructions:

https://support.google.com/mail/troubleshooter/1668960?hl=en#ts=1665018,1665144

and my gmail app-password, eM reported that the imap connection Succeeded, but the smtp connection failed. i clicked “Fix” button, and after a few moments, eM reported that the eM connection was “Fixed”.

then i experienced the smtp send failure described in comment above.

More info:

on my new windows 8 computer, i installed all windows updates, restarted, checked for more updates, installed, restarted, checked for more updates, installed, repeated until there were no more updates to install.

also uninstalled Mcaffee “internet protection”.

then i added gmail to eM with an app password.

now everything works in eM. the gmail account can send no problem.

Problem Resolved. Olivia, now you know what to recommend to people who have this same problem.

thx

The app password fix works for the mail portion but there is not way to set this up for the calendar and other eM Client features. Does anyone know if this issue is also affecting hardware authenticators?

Problem not resolved again.

Now when i start eM, the web-based verfication screen pops up. This is for accounts i’ve added using the app password.

Those accounts WERE working. Now not working.

Still broken.

Hello, anyone from eM here?

Good Job, three days?? really
Today I just want to try any new email application and look over the internet , I find yours email client when I  try set-up new Account I stuck with problem listed above, And after quick look around I removed this client from my computer, probably I never come back. Cheers

Hi,
please try logging into your gmail account through webmail using Internet Explorer.
Try removing eM Client either from your connected apps (https://security.google.com/settings/…) or from your App passwords (https://security.google.com/settings/…) and then logging into eM Client, giving it the permission anew.
This has managed to help some users.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience this issue is causing.

Best regards,
Olivia

I’ve run into the same problem. App password didn’t help. Just logged into gmail through MSIE without issue. I’ll just uninstall and mark this up as yet another failed email client. Back to Google’s horrible web UI.
