Issue with Alias Functionality in eM Client When Using GoDaddy Hosted Domain

Hi,

We are encountering an issue when attempting to use an alias in eM Client. Our domain is hosted by GoDaddy, and we have configured an alias for the main email account [email protected], setting [email protected] as the alias both in the GoDaddy account and within eM Client under the alias settings of the [email protected] account.

When emails are sent to [email protected], they are correctly received in the inbox of [email protected]—so far, everything works as expected. However, the problem arises when we attempt to reply to emails received at [email protected], or when composing a new message using [email protected] as the sender. The recipient still sees [email protected] as the sender, instead of [email protected].

Is there a specific setting in eM Client or in the GoDaddy account that would allow emails to appear as sent from [email protected] when replying or composing new messages from that alias?

We also tested this using a Distribution Group set up in the GoDaddy account (e.g. [email protected]). Emails sent to [email protected] are correctly delivered to the inbox of [email protected], but when we attempt to reply using [email protected] as the sender, we receive the following error:

“[Exchange Web Services] Sending email failed due to the following error: The user account which was used to submit this request does not have the right to send mail on behalf of the specified sending account., Cannot submit message.”

Is there an additional permission or setting that needs to be configured in order to resolve this issue?

Thank you in advance for your support.

This also happens with eg: Gmail aliases.

Some mail servers (like eg: Google) require you to also change the Alias email address “on the server end in the mailbox to be the default” for replies and composing, otherwise it will just default back again when the mail server end sends it. So go into your online mail box settings “to set the alias as the default”. If you don’t know where that setting is located, ask your Go Daddy mailbox tech support.

Alternatively If you want your alias email address to be the default address in eM Client for sending mail, then "just set the alias email address (to be the actual email address) in the “Accounts / General Tab” under your Name and Save accounts.

Apart from the above, if you have a current active paid Pro or Personal version, go to the VIP support page and login and lodge a support ticket.

There are several threads that adress this issue, which occours with different mail accounts (e.g. outlook.com).
But it seems that they are not willing to solve this issue. They always refer to the mail server.
But other mail clients don’t have this issue, so they show that a solution is possible (e.g. Thunderbird).
So if I use a alias adress, I have to use another mail client or the web interface of the mail provider.
Very disapointing.
I hope, this issue will be fixed one day and I hope they will no longer refer always to the mail provider.

Either the issue has yet to be resolved, or I am not getting how to set it up as per this blog post: Aliases with eM Client | eM Client.
