Initial setup: google kalender won't work

Hi,

I’m using eM Client successfully on two systems. Wanted to setup on a new system for my mum (with a new google account) but syncing with google calender won’t work.

In http://de.emclient.com/em-client-mit-gmail it sais, that the kalender needs to be activated first through the webinterface. Don’t know which interface you meen by that!?
I do can access the google calender through the browser and also the syncing to the smartphone works. But when I add the google account in em Client, it always asks for the password - which is correct, so it seems, that google is blocking it. But where to change or activate something???

Help would be great.

Regards,
Mark

Notes:
accessing the emails doesn’t work also (I’ve set IMAP to active in gmail settings)

Tried with my account: everything works. With my mums account: still asking for the password (where email adress and passowrd are correct)

“solution”
In google-security I had to activate access for “less secure apps”. Now it works.
But I realy don’t feel good with this setting!
Any clue or solution to use eM Client as an “secure app”?

Hi Mark, I’m glad you’ve found a solution for this issue, unfortunately GMail has enabled this option recently which allows users to connect to their gmail account using a standard password authentication, without this option enabled you’d only be able to connect to the account using applications with OAuth authentication method.

OAuth instead of a regular password method is using app specific tokens that are received using web based login, you can see a similar option while connecting your facebook account in eM Client.
eM Client however does not support this option yet, but it should be included in an upcoming upgrade of the application.

I understand your concerns about this option enabled, however I can assure you, using this option is still completely safe.

Hope this helps,
Paul.
