Inbox does not mark a mail as read once you click on to it and move on to the next one? Is this a bug?

  1. Click on a unread mail in Inbox (mail subject shown in bold text)
  2. scroll through the mail if you want to
    3.click on another mail in inbox
  3. the first mail is still showing as unread

The expected behaviour (courtesy: outlook) should be to mark the mail as read but that does not seem to be the case. When does a mail get recorded as read or is this a bug?

Depends on what your setting is.
