I have received about a thousand junk emails from global addresses as absolute spam in my main inbox and junk mail How to clear and stop them in the future

Clearing them is easy - simply delete!
Stopping or minimising the incidents is a whole different issue.
You don’t say over what period or name your ISP.
Many ISP’s have their own Spam filters server side, so check this out.
Are they all TO the same email address?
IF, and it’s a big if because of spoofing of addresses, you have multiple spam
from the same DOMAIN you can create the following rule or multiples thereof:

(1) Click “New Rule”
(2) Click “People”
(3) Enter “@the_email_domain_suffix
(4) Click “Add Address”
(4) Click “Save & Close”
(5) Click “NEXT”
(6) Follow to “Finish”

You can also create rules using ‘key’ words in Headers, Subject, Body.

Personally I prefer to use a dedicated Anti-Spam program; go to:
