I cannot restore my data after I deleted my emclient to upgrade

I had to delete my version of emclient according to a service rep, Gary Curtin, so I saved the data onto my desktop, which I assumed was all my contacts and emails etc

I’ve attempted to import this into the new version but I can’t figure it out despite googling it I cannot find any contact files or did I delete them when I deleted the program and started fresh…very frustrated…
I have the data stored to my desktop…I just want to restore it to the way it was, it shouldn’t be this hard!

Hi @Wil

What version of eMC did you delete?
What version of eMC have you installed?

There is nothing under your user name on the Forum apart from this post,
so how did you contact Gary Curtin and why?

Why were you told to delete eMC?
Were you given any specific instructions regarding this deletion?
What is the name of the file that you saved to your desktop?

Please provide the above information in order that you can be assisted.

Were you told to UNINSTALL (DO NOT DELETE DATABASE), INSTALL CURRENT VERSION?

Yes and I did that, I currently have the data but but I caannot restore it to the new version, the old version was 7 something, the new version is the latest one available, Gary was from Emclient support, I think he inadvertently answered me thinking I was a paying support customer.I was told to delete the older version because it would no longer launch after an update, so I saved my data and deleted not realizing the nightmare that this has become. I googled it, it seemed safe…duuuuh on my part
Thanks Skybat and sunisreal, for responding
Now I have the data and it doesn’t seem to be able to take it under the restore function

Hi @Wil

You have answered with a mix of information but nothing specific as I asked.
Without the information requested I can’t begin to help you.

It’s up to you I can do no more to help you.

What exactly did you “save”? Was it a ZIP file?

The only question I didn’t answer is where the file is, and what its called. I saved it to my desktop and called it em client, however I don’t keep version number in my head, as I said it was 7 something and now its the latest version of the client…
I onlu joined this forum today so why would there be anything else there? You are giving up on someone thats not on your level, if thats what I can expect then maybe this was a mistake to ask

It was all the data files they sent back
I would screenshot it for you and did previously through email with the previously mentioned tech
When it asked to save the data, thats what I did
Here’s a screen shot of what it looks like if that helps

Was the file you “saved” created by using the eMC backup? If not, is it a folder copy?

I was originally told that, so I did uninstall, but it never rectified the initial problem of not being able to launch
So then he said to save the data and uninstall…it did fix the launching issue but NOT importing the data into the new client and thats where I am, using the very latest version

yes its in a folder on my desktop, which I just sent20210824_131822-2

You are not answering the questions…

HOW did you “save” the data?
Did you run the eMC backup?
Did you copy or move a folder?

You use the word “importing”. How are you attempting to “import”?

Hi @Wil

Understand that responders on this Forum do so in their own time - they are NOT employed by eMC

You say there is only one question you did not answer; Not so, see below!

Further, the only reason I am giving up is that you have failed to provide the information requested; I strongly resent your assertion - I can’t work without the facts.

Get it into your head I will not be attempting to help you without the full requested information.

Skybat, I apologize then, I thought I did answer them above but here it is
There is nothing under your user name on the Forum apart from this post,
so how did you contact Gary Curtin and why? … NOT answered
Gary Curtin replied to me via a question I posted to the regular support portal, after going through the steps he referred me here realizing I was not a paying subscriber

Why were you told to delete eMC? … NOT answered - Yes I was. I was told to delete emc but save the data which I did
I was told to
Were you given any specific instructions regarding this deletion? … NOT answered - Yes save my data when asked which I have done
What is the name of the file that you saved to your desktop? … NOT answered
[/quote] I saved it as EM Client
I did post a screenshot of what the data looks like abover
I was told to delete because it wouldn’t launch

Al:
Sorry, its above I think but here it is…this messaging is a little convoluted
I saved the data to my desktop, which I screenshotted above for you
I tried running the file/restore but it wouldn’t accept the data,
I never moved any folders
I did what it said on Google to do

It was def created by emclient…

The screen shot you posted above… do you know the exact location it originally occupied ?

Yes I do, I downloaded it directly to my desk top

So what is the full location?

\LAPTOP-1LIG9IMU\Users\wil_r\Desktop\Em Client
I just went on a hunt for any .zip files, doesn’t appear to be anything there other than system files
