How to display Calendar and Contacts in default Android apps?

Hi there,

does anyone know how to get the successfully synced calendar items and contacts from eM Client Beta into the default Android apps like the “Contacts” and “Calendar” ones?

Having my contacts and stuff in eM Client is nice, but I’d like to use them also via the default apps since I also use Gmail for private stuff etc.

cheers,
Hauke

You need to be using the latest Android Beta V10.3.2269 which includes the Calendar and Contacts section. You can sign-up for the eM Client Beta in the Playstore “when you scroll down” after finding the eM Client app.

Then once you have the Android Beta installed go in eM Client for desktop to “Menu / Tools / QR Export” (Pc) or “Tools / QR Export” (Mac) to export all your desktop settings to the mobile app via QR Code.

To import the desktop QR Code on the Droid app, go to "Menu / Settings / Import/Export / Import via QR Code and scan the desktop.

I’m already using the Beta. Contacts and Calendars are synced but they are only visible within eM Client.

But I’d like to have them in Androids native Contact/Calendar app (like if someone uses the default Exchange integration or similar)

Sorry I’m confused. What do you mean by native ?

Do you mean importing into a different (non eM Client) app ? Or something different.

You can already import an existing eM Client desktop exchange account into the mobile app via the QR code to be the same. Need more info.

In a “standard” Android OS you have apps like “Contacts” and “Calendar”.

Most other Cal/CardDAV or Exchange integrations allows you to see “their” synced items in those native Android apps.

So for instance, if my [email protected] groupware account that I use and sync in eM Client has an appointment for today 6 pm, I also want to see this inside the Androids Calendar app (because there are widgets for that and I don’t want to check 2 different apps for all of my different appointments and so on)

Ok if you can see those other items in eM Client desktop but not the Mobile Beta app, then email [email protected] for assistance.

I do see the items in eM Client Mobile, but I’d like to see them e.g. in the native Contacts app as well which I currently can’t, maybe it isn’t implemented yet or I can’t see how to enable this feature

That was my initial question: Is it possible to see items that eM client syncs in its own app also outside of eM Client

Ok if you mean is there a separate eM Client mobile Calendar and separate mobile Contacts app, “no there isn’t”. It’s currently only a combined mobile app.

However if you are using eM Client desktop, you can right click on the Calendar and Contact sections “at the bottom left” to open them in separate windows with a right click.

Naa, I mean if it is possible to display synced item from that one eM Client Mobile app into other Apps on Android, like the Contacts one.

For instance: Items synced within the davx5 app are visible in the contacts app or calendar app. I just wonder if the same is possible in eM Client Mobile and how

No you don’t normally sync between different mobile apps as they are all programmed differently and not designed to do that.

So if you want to sync the same Contacts and Calendar or Mail data into other (non eM Client Droid apps) like your Contacts app, then you just simply “add your same IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account into your other Droid app”. Then they both update exactly the same. I do that with many different apps testing them out.

The only thing you can do with the eM Client Droid mobile app is to export to a .XML file via the “Menu / Settings / Import/Export” option to then import into either other eM Client mobile or desktop apps.

Ich have the same Issue. That doesn’t make sense.
I want to use emClient as the only App that provides the Mails/Contacts/Calender.
But if i want to to call Contacts from the Native Android Dialer App i cannot search the Contacts because emClient does not provide them Systemwide.
Usually all other Apps Provide the Calendar/Kontakt Systemwide so other Apps (Like Dialer or Whatsapp i.e.) can use them.

You just set your main Android dialer app “to use you cloud account contacts” and not local phone contacts which then is also used by eM Client contacts so it then is searchable. Ive done that with my own Gmail account in my Samsung S22 Ultra droid mobile.

If your Droid mobile cannot set a cloud account as default for phone contacts, then as mentioned previously you will have to export your native droid dialer app contacts to a file and then import that into eM Client contacts to then be the same.

.

Not sure if this helps you too, but my workaround currently is using Fairmail with just IMAP and DAVx5 for syncing Contacts and Calenders into the native Android apps.
