How prevent notes from syncing to phone?

I understand that my entries into EM Client sync to my phone that uses .gmail.  Thats IMAP I guess.  That syncing works but…
How can I stop only just the notes from syncing to the phone.  Contacts I want to sync but not the notes. 
Any thoughts appreciated!

Hello Cindy,

Just create the notes in the Local Folders - these won’t be synced with the server and with your other devices

Thank you so much for this information about local folders.  It makes life much easier.
I have another question I hope you can help with.
Is there a way to add an additional TAG?
Or change the name of one of the pre-set tags?
In addition to the ones there…business, personal, home, fun, school.
I hope so …

Hello Cindy.

Yes, you can change the tags or create new ones in Menu > Tools > Categories (version 7) or Menu > Tags (version 8).
