How do I search or filter local archive folders?

Moved all my mail and archived folders from thunderbird over but having a hard time figuring out how to search through them or even filter the individual mailboxes, am I missing something obvious somewhere?

Oh wait the search box is way up in the top right. damn that was hard to spot at 1440p.

In the upcoming V10 to be released this year sometime, the search box “is in the centre at the top” and is also much wider etc. So alot better to see.
